The impact of COVID-19 on education and School closures

Introduction

The outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) has been declared a public health emergency. The COVID-19 is the first such a health crisis. Many countries have decided to close the Schools, Colleges, and Universities. Now the schooling is moving towards the online system. And students are also assessed online, Which has a lot of errors and uncertainty for everyone. And the most important thing is that these issues have not short term causes long term impacts on student's careers.

  Impact on School Education

School going is the first step for children to grow skills. School increases social awareness among students. They seek social values while communicating with each other. So the students not going to school have a major difference with those who are school going is a difference in the skill set. Even if a student missed the school for a short time will have consequences for skill growth.
Let me explain with evidence. Lavy (2015) create a report on the impact of different instructional time in more than 50 countries.  And he found that there is a lot of difference between the hours of teaching. Increase 1 or 2 hours of weekly teaching hours increase the student's test score by 5 to 6%. This evidence shows that the productivity of skills in students is higher in those countries which have strong educational measures.

Impact on Graduates

COVID-19 has been to interrupt the school education also causes a severe interruption in graduation level education. The students who are ready to graduate and preparing for the final semesters and final year projects facing a lot of problems. The situation shows that the students who graduate in those programs which highly recommended (Computer Science, Information technology, Software engineering) will be able to find jobs and earn easily. But the students' graduates in other courses found earning losses. And ready to work at low wedges.

Solution:

COVID-19 causes major interruptions in the students learning process. But these interruptions can be reduced by taking the following measures:-

> Schools with the collaboration of teachers point out those students who have massive impacts by this system.

> Universities track the students who completed graduation recently and help them to find the jobs in the market.

> Instead of promoting students without any assessment in the next grades create specific criteria of grading or postpone the exams.
